Curriculum 21: Essential Education for a Changing WorldASCD Talks with Author Heidi Hayes Jacobs

Curriculum 21: Essential Education for a Changing World

(January 2010 Member Book)

Synopsis

"New forms" not reforms are what schools need for the 21st century, says Heidi Hayes Jacobs, an internationally known expert on curriculum design and instructional strategies. Heidi talks about why school leaders need to rethink how schools fulfill their education mission. Drawing on her own expertise and those of contributing authors like Vivien Stewart, Alan November, Art Costa, Bena Kallick, and David Niguidula, among others, Hayes explains why today’s schools need to take a fresh look at content and assessment, program structures, and thinking habits to successfully negotiate the rapid changes brought on by globalization and technology.

This interview was conducted by ASCD project manager and staff writer Rick Allen.
