Interdisciplinary Curriculum: Design and Implementation

About This Book
As the title promises, Jacobs and her co-authors give solid advice about how to design (develop, create) interdisciplinary programs and how to get them off and running. They describe several interdisciplinary options (for instance, a 2-week unit for elementary students, a year-long course for secondary students, or a fully integrated multigrade curriculum), how to combine those options, and how schools can select the appropriate one for their purposes. They also point out pitfalls and problems when program criteria are not thought through or are too shallow. Chapter 4 presents accounts of two programs, one elementary and one secondary, that actually exist. This book will be a valuable resource for anyone involved in integrated curriculum.
