Kadhir "Raja" Rajagopal has been an educator since 2004. He is currently an algebra teacher at Grant Union High School, a low-income comprehensive urban high school in Sacramento, Calif.
He is also an instructional coach for teachers in the Twin Rivers Unified School District and has taught in middle and high schools in East Oakland, Calif.
Rajagopal was named a 2011 California Teacher of the Year.
Rajagopal completed his bachelor's degree at the University of California–Berkeley and earned his master's degree at the University of San Francisco. Recently he completed his doctorate in education leadership, studying the effect of the CREATE model on student success in other teachers' classrooms.
He and his students have presented the model at numerous statewide and national conferences, including the 2009 annual conference of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics in Washington, D.C.
