Candidate's Leadership Vision Statement

Noris PriceASCD is an organization that develops programs, products, and services essential to the way educators learn, teach, and lead. My vision is to ensure that educators are provided with the professional learning opportunities that will build their capacity to meet the diverse learning needs and social-emotional development of the whole child in order to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in life.

Leadership Experiences:

  • As superintendent of the Baldwin County Schools, I am responsible for establishing one of five public Montessori Programs in the state of Georgia in partnership with Georgia College and State University. It is also the first Montessori Program in the state to include Head Start children.

    • Work with the board of directors to advocate for the needs of Georgia's public school children.
  • Communities in Schools of Milledgeville, Baldwin County Board of Directors
    • Serve the students of the Baldwin County Community by providing tutoring services, food, clothing, mentorship programs, reading workshops, and so much more. Work closely with the board of directors to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
  • Georgia State University Principals Center Advisory Board
    • Provide school leaders with opportunities designed to give them the tools to create schools that work for all children.
  • Professional Development Schools (PDS) Southeastern Regional Vision for Education (SERVE) Board of Directors
    • PDS SERVE supports the professional development needs of P–12 teachers, principals, administrators, and university personnel in Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi. The organization also provides a place for teams of local or regional PDS teacher-scholars, principals, and university researchers to present their work.

Biography Summary:

  • Noris Price has served as the Superintendent of Baldwin County School District since July 1, 2014. Under her leadership, the Baldwin County School District has implemented instructional initiatives and strategies that have resulted in improved student performance and the high school graduation rate has increased from 66% to 85%. Price has been successful in obtaining over 10 million dollars in grant funds for the Baldwin County Schools and leading the school district through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools/Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS/CASI) district accreditation process. Prior to her appointment as superintendent, she served as Deputy Superintendent of the Clarke County School District, where she helped to develop and implement school and system-wide improvement efforts. She started with the Clarke County School District in 2007 as an Associate Superintendent for Instructional Services and School Performance. Under her leadership, the district was named the Title I Distinguished District 2010, an honor indicating the school district was number one in the state of Georgia for closing the achievement gap between economically disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged students.
  • Price has more than 30 years of experience in public education. She was an elementary school teacher in New York City and Fairfax, Virginia and an Assistant Principal and Principal in Fairfax, Virginia. Price moved to Georgia in 1997 and for 10 years, she served as principal for Woodland Elementary Charter School in Fulton County, Georgia. During her tenure, the school was named a Title I Distinguished School and received the Georgia School of Excellence Award, as well as the National PTA Parent Involvement School of Excellence Award.
  • Price has received numerous awards and honors, including the Georgia Association of School Superintendents 2020 and 2021 Superintendent of the Year Finalist and President's Award, 2020 Georgia Charter System of the Year, Communities in School National "All In For Students" Award, Georgia School Boards Association Leading Edge Award, Wilmington College Distinguished Educator Award, the Nova Southeastern University Distinguished Alumni Award, Bobcat Award from Georgia College and State University, Governor Nathan Deal Education Reform Commission, and the Johnnie V. Cox Leadership Award from the University of Georgia.
  • Price has served on various boards, including the Georgia School Superintendents Association Board of Directors, Communities In Schools of Milledgeville-Baldwin County, the Milledgeville Rotary Club Board, United Way of Central Georgia Board of Trustees, the Development Authority of the City of Milledgeville-Baldwin County, Georgia State University Principals Center Advisory Board, Georgia School Boards Association Board of Trustees, Georgia School Boards Association Superintendent Advisory Council, the Georgia Association of Curriculum and Instructional Supervisors, Georgia Association of Elementary School Principals, and the Georgia Charter Schools Association. She has also been a presenter at local, state, and national conferences.
  • Price earned a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in Florida, a Certificate in Educational Leadership from George Mason University in Virginia, a Master of Science in Education from Lehman College of the City University of New York, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Wilmington College in Ohio.
