ASCD Sponsorship Guidelines
ASCD shall engage in corporate relationships which help the Association fulfill its mission and advance its vision. Support from appropriate corporations contributes to the financial health of the Association so that it may continue its activities to ensure the success of each learner, and also provides important awareness-building for the Association.
ASCD has adopted the following guidelines for all corporate sponsorships:
-
Sponsorships and all corporate-supported events or programs must conform to ASCD’s mission and organizational priorities as outlined in ASCD’s Strategic Plan.
-
Corporate sponsor’s products and services must be compatible with and complement ASCD’s mission and values.
-
To prevent potential conflicts of interest and guard against any perception of conflicts of interest, ASCD will not offer category exclusivity to companies whose products and services are endemic to ASCD’s endeavors; this determination will be made by ASCD. ASCD may enter into agreements for category exclusivity with companies deemed by ASCD to be non-endemic to its purpose and activities.
-
ASCD sponsorships will not explicitly endorse a company’s product or service.
-
ASCD will refrain from associating with companies that have the potential to damage ASCD’s image because of the nature of the companies’ products, services, or reputation.
-
ASCD will not engage in sponsorships from companies in business areas deemed inappropriate for use by children, e.g. tobacco, alcohol, etc.
-
ASCD will decide which events, programs, and member services a corporate sponsor may be associated with and will have final approval over all content.
-
ASCD will retain ownership and total control of all ASCD events, programs, member services, awards, and communication vehicles. The policies, programs, and integrity of ASCD must remain entirely unaffected by any sponsorship.
-
ASCD will retain total control over its marks/logos and their use by corporate sponsors.
-
ASCD shall have complete editorial control over all sponsor-related communications to ASCD members.
-
The Director of Corporate Sponsorship has the authority to pursue corporate sponsorship opportunities and negotiate terms within the parameters previously approved by ASCD’s Executive Leadership Team and Executive Director. Any departures from pre-approved sponsorship benefits/arrangements may require the approval of the Executive Leadership Team.
