Volunteer & Save!

Volunteer Registration Is Now Closed.

Volunteer assignments were e-mailed on February 27. If you have not received your assignments, e-mail us immediately.

If you cannot fulfill your volunteer obligations, please e-mail us immediately.

If you have an emergency after March 12 and cannot fulfill your obligations, please call the on-site Volunteer Office at 407-685-4002.

Benefits

As a volunteer, you can save up to 69 percent on the cost of conference registration without sacrificing a minute of your conference learning experience.

Compare the Annual Conference registration fees.

Program

Each volunteer is responsible for facilitating two sessions at ASCD's Annual Conference. Your volunteer sessions will be assigned by ASCD staff and will not conflict with your ticketed session selections.

Outside of your assigned sessions, you are free to attend whatever conference events and sessions you wish. However, you must attend your two assigned volunteer sessions.

As a volunteer, you will greet the presenter before the session and ensure that everything is in order for the session to begin. Responsibilities also include

  • Taking tickets, if the session is ticketed
  • Distributing and collecting session evaluation forms
  • Completing a volunteer survey
  • Serving as a liaison to ASCD staff

Volunteer Responsibilities

1.

On arrival at conference, you should stop by the Volunteer Office (Orange County Convention Center, West Building, Level Three, W305B) to pick up your two session packets. These packets will contain

  • A memo that explains your responsibilities.
  • 10 Scantron participant evaluation forms to distribute to participants.
  • A "This Session Is Full" sign to hang outside the room, if necessary.
  • A volunteer evaluation form to be completed by you.

2.

Before an assigned session begins, you will greet your presenter(s) at the session room and make sure they have everything that they need. During the session, it is your responsibility to

  • Take tickets (if the session is ticketed) and monitor the crowd.
  • Put a notice outside the door if the session is full.
  • Count attendees.
  • Distribute and collect participant evaluation forms.
  • Complete the one-page volunteer evaluation form.

3.

After your volunteer sessions, you must return all evaluations to the Volunteer Office during Conference hours.

Volunteer Requirements

When you registered as a volunteer, you confirmed that you meet specific criteria:

I understand that registering to be a conference volunteer means that I

  • Am available throughout the entire conference (from 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16).
  • Will stop by the volunteer office no later than 90 minutes prior to my assigned session to pick up my volunteer materials.
  • Can volunteer for at least two conference sessions. I understand that these will be assigned by ASCD and will not interfere with my ticketed session selections.
  • Am willing to serve as a backup in the event that another volunteer cancels.
  • Understand that in the event that I am unable to follow through with my assigned volunteer duties, I will be invoiced for the difference between the volunteer registration fee and an on-site conference registration fee.
  • Am not a conference presenter.
