ASCD Annual Conference Volunteer Program

Register as a volunteer here.

Why Volunteer?

Volunteers play an important part at ASCD conferences and institutes. You get to be part of the inside scene, get up and close with presenters, and receive an awesome benefit towards future professional development opportunities.

“I will be attending the [ASCD] annual conference...I wouldn't miss it for the world. How many conferences gives you the opportunity to learn about the key educational issues that span all content areas, leadership and learning?”
Alina Davis, Teacher, Orlando, Fla.

Volunteer Benefits

Attendees who volunteer to host two or more sessions receive a voucher that can be used toward a registration for any ASCD Conference or ASCD Professional Development Institute in the 2013–14 year, plus a complimentary professional development online course of their choice.

When completing your online or paper registration for the Annual Conference, please indicate that you would like to volunteer. Assignments will be made electronically. Please note that session preferences cannot be taken into consideration.

How Much Time Am I Committing as a Volunteer?

ASCD arranges the volunteer program so you're able to enjoy the conference you came to attend. By agreeing to volunteer, you agree to the following time commitments:

  • You are available throughout the entire conference (from 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 18).
  • You can volunteer for at least two conference sessions, or give roughly 2–3 hours of your time. These sessions will be assigned by ASCD. You may end up using the time to work an event or project, rather than being scheduled for specific sessions.
  • You are willing to serve as a backup in the event that another volunteer cancels.

We realize that sometimes there are special circumstances. If you're not certain you can meet these time expectations but still would like to volunteer, please contact the Annual Conference staff for more information.

When Do I Get My Volunteer Assignment?

ASCD will send out volunteer assignments by e-mail by late February 2013. There will also be a volunteer webinar in early March to answer questions and walk through expectations.
