In Her Own Words: A Leadership Reflection
What has led to your development as a leader?
Teachers are change agents who work with the challenges of society in their classrooms and/or professional environments on a daily basis. As a change agent, I hope to lead educators “into the light” of teaching for the 21st century using strategies that are relevant to the students and immersed in technology.
Challenging administrators and teachers to teach their students to think, problem solve, work as teams, respect diversity, and work for social justice is critical, if as a nation, we are to survive in a global economy and global society. Many educators are stuck in a time warp that is morphing before their eyes. Some are resistant, but most are ready for the challenge of preparing our nation’s youth for a new world.
As a whole, we may not know how to do it, but we are willing to meet the struggle head on, think out of the box, and create new methods that will allow our children to compete in a global society. It is important to me to be part of the leadership that allows this movement to happen.
