Payment Options

ASCD accepts only credit card payments online. Purchasers may order online using a Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover card.

For books:

• Buy 10 or more of the same title, save 10 percent.

• Address: Edit, disable, or add a new address.

Downloads 

Purchased Downloads

Access your purchased downloadable products (e-books, videos, audios, etc.) for up to 45 days online.

• Click "My Account," and log in.
• Select "Downloads."

Member E-book Downloads

Select Online and Premium Online members may access their member e-book bundled with bonus MOBI and EPUB files for up to 90 days online.

Technical Information 

E-books

Our PDF e-books are best read using Adobe Reader on a computer or an iPad. Although files can be loaded onto a Kindle, the reading experience may display poorly even on the largest model, the Kindle DX. 

ASCD offers PDF e-books of most titles for sale in the online store. When available, the PDF e-book is bundled with bonus MOBI and EPUB files to ensure compatibility with any device you choose to use, such as a Kindle or Nook. All Select Online and Premium Online member e-books are bundled with bonus MOBI and EPUB files.

Video Downloads

ASCD's downloadable videos are available in Windows Media format. Users may download the latest version of Windows Media Player.

Zip Files

Some files, including ASCD PD QuickKits™ and e-book bundles, will come as a zipped file. Users will need WinZip or a similar application to open the file and extract the contents. Each file will include a document that helps you choose and load the right version for your system.

Online Learning 

You may access online learning programs immediately after purchasing by following the instructions in your e-mail confirmation.

• PD Online®: Users may complete all new activations by clicking here. After activation, please go to the PD Online site and sign in to complete your enrollment(s). All enrollments must be completed by selecting your course(s) under "Catalog."
• PD In Focus®: Users must complete their activation by following the instructions in the e-mail confirmation. If you already activated your new subscription, you may go to the PD In Focus site to sign in and access your subscription.
• Understanding by Design® Exchange: Online ordering is not available at this time. Please contact us to order today! If you have an active login, please go to the Understanding by Design Exchange site to log in.
• Healthy School Communities: The new Creating a Healthy School Using the Healthy School Report Card: An ASCD Action Tool, 2nd Edition includes an online scoring and analysis tool. Active users may access the online site. If you have purchased the action tool and would like access to the online tool, please submit a request by completing the online form.

Sales Tax and GST 

Actual shipping and tax costs will be applied during checkout. All sales are in U.S. dollars. ASCD assesses and remits a goods and services tax (GST), at a rate of 5 percent, from Canadian members and customers. Canadian members and customers are responsible for any additional taxes, duties, or fees. 

All members and customers outside the United States and Canada may also be subject to GST/VAT, to be charged when the order is delivered. All international taxes, duties, and fees are the responsibility of the customer; the international rate charged is dependent upon individual country tax rates.

Important Information Regarding Tax Exemption 

Orders placed under individual accounts will not receive tax-exempt status. If the order is for a school/organization/institution and you wish to receive both member pricing and tax-exempt status, please do not submit your order online and instead contact the Service Center at 1-800-933-2723 for support.

Orders shipped to the following locations will be charged sales tax or GST.

*Orders shipped to California, Florida, and Washington will be charged a tax rate based on the destination.

Shipping 

*Due to shipment provider regulations, all shipments to Alaska and U.S. territories will be charged UPS 2nd-day rates. The actual rate will display during the checkout process. Shipping charges for orders weighing over 149 pounds will be calculated manually by the ASCD staff.

Returns 

Satisfaction Guaranteed!

Our goal is to exceed your expectations for quality products and service. If within the time limit specified below you feel that we have fallen short of this goal, we will issue you a credit, refund, or exchange.

No prior authorization is needed to return books to ASCD for credit providing the procedures below are followed.

• An invoice or packing slip must be included with the return. Bookstores and distributors also need to include a copy of the chargeback document. Credits for returns are processed back to the original invoice number. Credits should not be deducted by the customer.
• All publications must be in resalable condition. Books returned with stamps, marks, stickers, etc., in or on the book will not be accepted for credit or refund.
• Damaged or shelf worn copies will not be accepted.
• Shipping charges are non-refundable.
• We do not accept returns for e-books, magazines, downloadable products, or gift cards.
• Credit memos will be sent when returns are processed and reflected on the next monthly statement.

Time Limit for Returns

• For Bookstores: All returns must be received within 120 days of the original invoice date.
• For Non-Bookstore Customers (including schools, individuals, and distributors): Returns must be received within 45 days of the original invoice date.
• Reminder to Distributors: ASCD is under no obligation to accept the return of materials covered under your distributor agreement unless the materials are damaged in shipment from ASCD.

A request for an extension of return privileges must be in writing. Returns must be shipped prepaid to:
