ASCD Appoints Mary Catherine "MC" Desrosiers as New Chief of Program Development
Alexandria, VA (10/18/12)—ASCD, the global leader in providing programs, products, and services that empower educators to support the success of each learner, has appointed Mary Catherine "MC" Desrosiers as the association’s new Chief Program Development Officer. In her new role, Desrosiers will lead and direct the association’s publishing, content acquisition and development, creative services, professional development, and conferences and institutes units.
"For almost 70 years, ASCD has been recognized as an innovative source for professional development," said ASCD Executive Director and CEO Dr. Gene R. Carter. "MC understands our rich history, but even more importantly, she shares the association’s vision for the future of professional development. Among the many responsibilities of her new role, Desrosiers will align ASCD’s program development activities with the policies, goals, and objectives established by the CEO and the Board of Directors. She will also drive the research and selection of new ASCD professional development content. In addition, she will oversee the development and production of an array of association programs, products, and services designed for member and nonmember practitioners, researchers, policymakers, and other constituents.
Desrosiers brings more than 20 years’ experience in the education, digital media, and technology markets to ASCD. Before joining the association, Desrosiers specialized in customer-centered new product design, development, and delivery of instructional services. In her most recent role as chief strategy and operations officer at Integrated Educational Strategies Inc. (IES), Desrosiers oversaw activities from strategic planning to the creation of new product design to client services and operations.
Prior to her role at IES, Desrosiers cofounded Bridge2Learning, a consultancy that provides strategic product design and operations consulting and development services. Desrosiers also served in various management, product development, and operation roles as a senior vice president at Kaplan Virtual Education and at K12 Inc.
Desrosiers is a graduate of Mount Saint Mary’s University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business and finance, and she earned a Master’s of Business Administration from Marymount University.
