ASCD Partners with CareerBuilder to Launch ASCD Job Ramp
Statement from Gene R. Carter, Executive Director, ASCD
October 14, 2010
As an organization that represents educators, we are intimately acquainted with the challenges our members face in these uncertain economic times, particularly those educators recently laid off because of school budget cuts. To aid the job search process, we've partnered with CareerBuilder to construct the ASCD Job Ramp™ site. This education job site is a tool tailored to meet the needs of educators, schools, and districts ready to explore and discover opportunities and talent in our membership.
Last month, U.S. Department of Education Secretary Arne Duncan started a national campaign to recruit 1 million new teachers. Given future projections of nationwide teacher shortages, this is a worthy goal for our nation to pursue. ASCD applauds this initiative but believes strongly that we must also help current unemployed education professionals. To enhance and simplify the job search for those looking for work now, the ASCD Job Ramp site offers educators custom employment searches and personalized alerts, adopting the same technology that made CareerBuilder the number one job site in the United States.
ASCD Job Ramp creates a valuable and unique job search experience for our educator audience by employing CareerBuilder's job posting engine, incorporating résumé and job search services, and featuring all of the CareerBuilder jobs already in the education category. ASCD Job Ramp listings will be integrated into the main ASCD website and later this year into ASCD EDge, our professional social networking community, and it will be categorized by a user's geographic location inside the United States.
ASCD Job Ramp is open to anyone, and job seekers can use the service for free.
I urge educators to visit www.jobramp.org and discover the best place to employ skills in learning, teaching, and leading. I also urge school systems to use ASCD Job Ramp to locate the most highly qualified educators for their classrooms and buildings.
