Alexandria, VA (09/17/2013)—ASCD, the global community dedicated to excellence in learning, teaching, and leading, has appointed Meaghan Duff as the association’s managing director of professional learning. In her new role, Duff will direct and oversee the association's capacity-building programs and field services, digital curriculum and online courses, and institutes for educators.
"We are pleased to welcome Meaghan to ASCD," said Mary Catherine "MC" Desrosiers. "Meaghan will help reinforce the association as an innovative source for professional development. Her specialized knowledge and education experience further our mission of empowering educators to support the success of each learner."
Among her many responsibilities, Duff will design short- and long-range business plans and align those plans to organizational strategies. She will also focus heavily on best practices and current trends in the area of professional development for educators. In addition, she will coordinate efforts and set clear priorities for development and management of comprehensive and complementary programs, products, and services.
Duff brings to ASCD more than 12 years' experience delivering high-quality business, technology, and learning services to education clients and partners. Prior to joining the association, Duff served as vice president of corporate and business development for Blackboard Inc., where she developed and implemented the company’s largest and most valuable commercial partnerships, restructured the business development organization, and led the corporate strategic planning process.
Duff earned a doctorate and a master’s degree in history from The College of William and Mary and a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Virginia. She remains actively engaged in her discipline by teaching American history courses for the University of Massachusetts-Boston through UMassOnline.
