Central Michigan University Adds ASCD Content to New Teacher Leadership Program
Mount Pleasant, MI and Alexandria, VA (09/28/11)—Central Michigan University (CMU) has named ASCD, the global leader in providing programs, products, and services that empower educators to support the success of each learner, as the lead content provider for CMU’s new Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership program.
CMU’s Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership, offered online, in person, and in a blended format, is tailored to educators who want to pursue professional development and personal growth while they continue to teach. This 33-credit degree program is designed to help aspiring teacher leaders become reflective and collaborative professionals, education change agents, and leaders in the teaching profession. With the new content agreement, CMU will enhance their courses with ASCD’s professional development materials for teachers. This material includes online instruction, books, and other resources to engage participants in a blend of learning media.
“As a leader in education, we sought ASCD to partner with us for our new MA in Teacher Leadership,” said Dr. Betty Kirby, education leadership department chairperson at CMU. “The professional development materials produced by ASCD complement the online leadership curriculum we have designed for this degree and bring a variety of content from renowned experts in the fields of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and leadership.”
“ASCD is thrilled to provide its outstanding professional development content to Central Michigan University’s MA in Teacher Leadership degree program,” said ASCD Executive Director and CEO Dr. Gene R. Carter. “We look forward to partnering with Dr. Kirby and the entire faculty of Central Michigan University on our shared mission of preparing the next generation of education leaders to support the success of each learner.”
