ASCD Introduces Three New PD Online® Courses for the Common Core and Differentiated Instruction
Alexandria, VA (10/09/2012)—ASCD, the global leader in providing programs, products, and services that empower educators to support the success of each learner, announces the release of three new PD Online® courses focused on Common Core State Standards and differentiated instruction.
Since 1996, ASCD has provided innovative and award-winning PD Online courses to educators across the world. PD Online features more than 80 courses focusing on a broad array of important topics and incorporates multimedia and high-quality digital content that fits the needs of almost any type and size of learning group, ranging from individual learners to statewide deployments and integration with university programs.
The first course, The Core Six: Teaching with the Common Core State Standards in Mind, provides educators with six essential strategies to support schoolwide efforts to improve performance and increase student engagement while implementing the new standards. This course includes powerful learning modules focused on each of the six strategies, a virtual tool kit featuring multimedia presentations, video examples, and a digital copy of the book The Core Six: Essential Strategies for Achieving Excellence with the Common Core.
In addition to the new Common Core PD Online course, ASCD has released two courses that focus on differentiated instruction:
Both courses include videos, in-depth readings, personal reflections from educators in the field, and practical applications to help educators implement differentiated instruction in their schools or classrooms.
Today, some of the largest districts in the United States count PD Online courses as integral components of their professional development strategy. With the PD Online series, districts and schools can personalize and monitor professional development for individual educators and groups looking to earn college course or professional development credits.
"ASCD is pleased to continue to grow our PD Online course offerings with high-quality multimedia content that helps educators meet the challenges of today's classrooms," said ASCD Executive Director and CEO Dr. Gene R. Carter. "We will continue to listen closely to our members to learn what professional development resources they need to continue to support the success of each learner."
