ALEXANDRIA, VA— ASCD announced today the election of two new Board directors selected by the organization’s membership. Their term is effective July 1, 2020.
Joining the Board are Avis Williams and Charles Badu Yeboah. Williams, an entrepreneur, veteran, and the superintendent of Selma City Schools in Alabama, brings expertise as an educator leader, an author, and an Alabama ASCD board member.
Yeboah, as the founder of International Community Schools in Ghana and executive director of Ghana ASCD, offers a vital perspective as an international school leader and affiliate leader.
"ASCD is a global organization that’s focused on meeting the needs of educators daily and throughout their careers. We view our national and international affiliates as part of our family, and Avis, coming from Alabama ASCD, and Charles, coming from Ghana ASCD, will be great additions as we continue to innovate and provide the content that educators need to navigate constantly changing learning environments," ASCD CEO and Executive Director Ranjit Sidhu said.
The ASCD Board of Directors comprises 11 members, led by an elected president and vice president. Board candidates are selected by the ASCD Nominations Committee and are voted on by membership during the general election between March 13 and April 30.
