ALEXANDRIA, VA—ASCD, in support of America's educators who are serving on the front lines by teaching both remotely and in person, is introducing remote professional learning that directly responds to the diverse, ever-changing needs of teachers, principals, coaches, and school district leaders.
The remote professional learning plans are designed to build the capacity of each school district's teachers, administrators, and instructional coaches to differentiate their instruction and engage each student, whether they are learning remotely or in a physical classroom.
"ASCD stands with educators and, through our professional development services, we are providing the support they need as they navigate this new reality of education," ASCD CEO and Executive Director Ranjit Sidhu said. "ASCD and our professional development team are constantly adapting to be true partners to our school districts and to educators. Right now, that means introducing professional development that's remote and relevant."
ASCD will tailor each district's professional learning plan to accommodate its unique needs. Every plan includes interactive professional development sessions that will enable school and district leaders to learn best practices to differentiate their instruction asynchronously and synchronously. Sessions are led by education thought leaders, including Carol Ann Tomlinson, Jay McTighe, and Kristina Doubet, among others. Plans are flexible and designed to accommodate educators' busy schedules.
"Working with ASCD has been a true partnership. I am excited to launch our partnership, which will enhance teaching and learning when our students and educators return to learning this fall and beyond," said Cathy Keegan, superintendent of the Milton Area School District. "Our partnership with ASCD demonstrates our ongoing commitment to our educators by providing exceptional resources and support."
