Renee McCall was tapped to become the principal of Excel High School in 2017 based on her track record of leadership in other high-need schools in the Boston Public Schools and her prior history as a powerful teacher leader with a fierce commitment to equity. In recent original research she conducted as a part of the doctoral program at University of Pennsylvania, she elevated the voices of Black and Latino young men in order to identify important lessons for school leaders regarding their sense of belonging and engagement in school.
