About Differentiated Instruction

Differentiated instruction infographicDifferentiated instruction is an approach to teaching in which educators actively plan for students' differences so that all students can best learn. In a differentiated classroom, teachers divide their time, resources, and efforts to effectively teach students who have various backgrounds, readiness and skill levels, and interests.

More of a visual learner? Take a quick look at the definition of differentiation—in terms of what it is and is not—in this handy infographic.

ASCD Faculty experts can build the capacity of teachers and leaders in differentiated instruction for every grade level, subject, and specialty area. In this case study, ASCD Faculty assisted Killeen ISD in improving their middle school math program.
