Summary

Teaching in Tandem: Effective Co-Teaching in the Inclusive ClassroomCo-teaching is an equal partnership between a special education teacher and a general education teacher. They share a classroom and responsibilities for teaching all students in the class. But what does co-teaching look like? How does it work? Are we doing it right?

Finding answers to these questions is crucial to the effectiveness of a co-teaching program that is grounded in inclusive education practices. In this webinar, presented by Gloria Lodato Wilson and Joan Blednick, authors of the book, Teaching in Tandem: Effective Co-Teaching in the Inclusive Classroom, you'll learn the fundamentals of co-teaching, how to address some of the obstacles to effective co-teaching through a problem-solving process, and a streamlined method for co-planning lessons.

About the Presenters

Gloria Lodato Wilson Gloria Lodato Wilson is an associate professor and director of special education programs at Hofstra University in New York. She is the author of numerous articles on coteaching and learning strategies.

Joan BlednickJoan Blednick has worked in public education for more than 40 years. During this time, she has served as a teacher, guidance counselor, administrator, and adjunct college professor. Most recently, she developed and implemented a coteaching model at the Ames Campus of Massapequa High School, where she serves as principal.
