Opal Dawson

Opal Dawson Opal Davis Dawson is principal of John F. Kennedy Montessori Elementary, where she is committed to helping educators learn to create a morally sound culture of achievement for all students.
She participates as a member of numerous professional, civic, and community organizations. She is a Kentucky Colonel, a Louisville Distinguished Citizen, a Honorary Captain of the Belle of Louisville, and a semi-finalist in ASCD's 2003 Outstanding Young Educator Award (OYEA). Currently, she mentors aspiring principals and was elected a 2005 ASCD Emerging Leader, allowing her the chance to travel around the country as a national consultant.

Dawson holds a master's degree in elementary education from the University of Louisville-Kentucky, where she is on leave from her doctorate in administration and higher education.
