Editors

Penelope J. Wald has taught and consulted in the field of education for three decades. Her teaching experience ranges from elementary general and special education to the graduate school level. From 1988 to 1999 Wald has been a member of the research staff at The George Washington University Graduate School of Education and Human Development and served as Project Director for three federally funded model projects focused on quality inclusive education. She is a coauthor, with Marie Abraham and Lori Morris, of Inclusive Early Childhood Education (Communication Skill Builders, 1993). She has consulted with the U.S. Agency for International Development's Egypt Training Project and the U.S. Department of Education, as well as local, state, and national programs on issues of early childhood inclusion and building professional learning communities. Michael S. Castleberry, Professor of Special Education at The George Washington University, has taught at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels and has been active in sponsored activities related to teacher preparation in early childhood special education. His teaching emphasis is in the area of developmental assessment and testing, behavior management, and professional staff development. During his 26 years at the university, he has consulted with the U.S. Department of Defense, the Department of the Treasury, Project HOPE, and school systems throughout the Washington, D.C., area. His current interest is in the establishment of professional development schools with area school districts.
