About the Author

Richard Sagor took a leave from his position as an Associate Professor of Education at Washington State University in August of 1997 to found the Institute for the Study of Inquiry in Education, an organization committed to assisting schools and educators with their local school improvement initiatives. During the past decade Dick has facilitated workshops on the conduct of collaborative action research throughout the United States and internationally.

Dick has 17 years of experience in public schools, including work as a teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent. He is a frequent contributor to Educational Leadership and the author of the ASCD book How to Conduct Collaborative Action Research. Dick's other books include At-Risk Students: Reaching and Teaching Them, The TQE Principal: A Transformed Leader, and Local Control and Accountability: How to Get It, Keep It, and Improve School Performance.
