A National Board Certified Teacher since 2002, Carol Frederick Steele holds a BA in English from the University of Michigan and an MA in Communication from Western Michigan University. Her teaching career includes work in public school at various grade levels, adult education, business and industrial programs, Job Corps, and English language instruction.

She has served on the Michigan Department of Education's Commission for Professional Teaching Standards and as a mentor teacher and field instructor for Michigan State University. She has written and directed teacher training films and was awarded a Michael Jordan grant to provide urban students with basic TV production skills. She currently provides workshops and convention presentations for fellow teachers.
