I was working with a middle school doing some job-embedded coaching for the 8th grade teachers. Audrey asked me to observe her class and give her some help with her students who didn't seem to be motivated to do the work. When class started, Audrey put up an overhead of the day's agenda and asked students to copy it down. A few did. Most did not. Then Audrey projected a PowerPoint presentation on the screen. The first few slides reviewed salient points from the assigned reading the night before. The next few slides posed discussion questions about the reading.
