My thinking about the kind of high schools our students need and deserve is greatly influenced by the research, wisdom, and guidance of Robert J. Marzano. The opportunity I have had over the last several years to work with Dr. Marzano has been a gift of immeasurable proportions and one that will forever impact my work in high school reform.
In addition to Dr. Marzano, I am indebted to the other members of Marzano Research Laboratory, the ASCD What Works in Schools Cadre, and particularly Debra Pickering, for the resources, implementation strategies, presentation aids, words of advice, coaching, and friendship they have generously shared with me over the years.
