The RTI Leadership Planning Team is responsible for planning and overseeing implementation of the RTI framework. Once the planning team has been formed, team members will begin to lay the foundation for the RTI initiative:
- Deciding how they will work as a team. This task includes such things as setting ground norms for participation, establishing roles and responsibilities, and determining how the team will operate. Some teams also may find it useful for members to state their personal commitment to the RTI work.
- Becoming oriented to the work. This task includes reviewing the overall tasks and outcomes. It also involves setting a timeline for each phase.
- Establishing a basic understanding of RTI. This task includes researching the historical roots of RTI. It also involves reviewing definitions and adopting or creating definitions to guide the work.
- Gauging the school's readiness for RTI. This task includes reviewing other ongoing initiatives and resources.
