About the Authors

Janet A. Hale is an educational consultant who specializes in curriculum mapping, standards-based curriculum design, and transforming units of study. She travels extensively throughout the United States as well as internationally. She enjoys introducing curriculum design and curriculum mapping to newcomers, supporting implementation, aiding struggling initiatives, and advising those ready for advanced curriculum work. She has written two books focused on curriculum mapping, including A Guide to Curriculum Mapping: Planning, Implementing, and Sustaining the Process and An Educational Leader's Guide to Curriculum Mapping: Creating and Sustaining Collaborative Cultures, both published by Corwin Press.

Her experience as a teacher at the elementary and secondary levels and her master's degree in leadership and curriculum are an asset to her work helping teachers and administrators design curriculum maps and transform units of study. Since 1988, Janet has developed national educational seminars and trainings and presented at conferences sponsored by ASCD, the International Reading Association, the Association of Christian Schools International, and Curriculum Designers/Curriculum 21.

Janet resides in Tucson, Arizona. At home, she enjoys working in her desert garden and spending time with family and friends. She may be reached at 520-241-8797 or teachtucson@aol.com. You may also visit her website at www.CurriculumDecisions.com.

Michael Fisher is an instructional coach and educational consultant specializing in the intersection between instructional technology and curriculum design, which he calls digigogy: a new digital pedagogy. He works with districts across the United States to help schools and educators maximize available technology, software, and web-based resources while attending to curriculum design, instructional practices, and assessments.

Michael holds a bachelor's degree in science from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, a master's degree in English from Buffalo State College, and postbaccalaureate certifications in middle grades science, English language arts, and K–12 gifted education. He presents at local, regional, and national conferences in the United States and has also worked internationally, most recently with the first ever 1:1 iPad implementation in China. He is a frequent blogger on the Curriculum 21 Ning and his professional blog.

Michael resides in Amherst, New York. He enjoys spending time with family as well as reading and writing. He may be reached at digigogy@gmail.com or through his website.
