Despite much of what we hear in the current political debate about U.S. education, we have much for which to be thankful. We have many wonderful schools and teachers. We are educating an incredibly diverse student population and consistently achieving higher standardized test scores and graduation rates. We have classrooms where joy is always present. Occasionally, we find whole schools where joy is part of the curriculum.
We have millions of parents who support their children and their schools. How privileged we are to work with their children.
