ASCD will stream 22 dynamic sessions live from its 68th Annual Conference & Exhibit Show held in Chicago, Ill., March 16–18, 2013. This virtual experience will include more than 30 hours of content and feature presenters such as Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, Freeman Hrabowski III, Maya Angelou, Michael Fullan, and Heidi Hayes Jacobs.
During this tough financial climate when many have to consider tight budgets and travel and lodging costs, a virtual conference is a great opportunity for those who can't attend in person to get high-quality sessions right at their home or school computer that they can watch on their own time. The 2013 Virtual Conference will be built on the Social 27 conference platform. The platform and video stream will be viewable on standard PCs and Macs as well as on most iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) and Android-based devices.
Exciting and stimulating sessions will include "Professional Capital: Transforming Teaching in Every School," led by Michael Fullan and Andy Hargreaves; "Blended Learning Spaces LIVE!: Our Story of Teaching and Leading in a Facebook-Meets-Face-to-Face Environment," led by Tiffany Della Vedova; "Ignite Session: Inspiration in Five Minutes," led by ASCD's Kevin Scott; "When They Don't Want to Hear: Communicating Unwelcome Messages Effectively," led by Scott Herrmann; "The International Panel: The Future of Education in a Globally Connected World," led by ASCD Executive Director Dr. Gene Carter; and the John Dewey Society Lecture, presented by Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, "Not Your Grandmother's Civics."
