Don't let innovation or ambition fall by the wayside this year because your district is strapped for cash. If you need funds to fuel a classroom project, enhance a school program, or even further your own professional development and education, consider applying for a grant. Thousands are available for educators of every level through nonprofit, corporate, government, private, and even public channels. Here are a few sources to begin your search:

K–12 teachers, administrators, or teacher groups can apply for several types of grants through the NEA Foundation, including
- Learning & Leadership Grants, which help public school teachers, education support professionals, or faculty in higher education participate in professional development experiences, such as summer institutes. Group grants fund collegial professional development.
- Student Achievement Grants, which fund specific work that engages students in critical thinking and problem solving with standards-based content.

Fellowships are carried out in summer and may fund teaching-related travel and cross-cultural study.
