Don't let innovation or ambition fall by the wayside this year because your district is strapped for cash. If you need funds to fuel a classroom project, enhance a school program, or even further your own professional development and education, consider applying for a grant. Thousands are available for educators of every level through nonprofit, corporate, government, private, and even public channels. Here are a few sources to begin your search:
      K–12 School Grants
Lists hundreds of grants for funding classroom and school resources, special projects, and teachers' professional growth. Grants are grouped by academic area, locality, grade level, and school role (principals, librarians, and so on).
      National Education Association Foundation Grants
K–12 teachers, administrators, or teacher groups can apply for several types of grants through the NEA Foundation, including
      • Learning & Leadership Grants, which help public school teachers, education support professionals, or faculty in higher education participate in professional development experiences, such as summer institutes. Group grants fund collegial professional development.
      • Student Achievement Grants, which fund specific work that engages students in critical thinking and problem solving with standards-based content.
      Fund for Teachers
Awards fellowships to preK–12 teachers in most U.S. states for self-designed professional growth experiences that broaden teachers' skills and make a difference to their teaching and school community. Fellowships are carried out in summer and may fund teaching-related travel and cross-cultural study.
