Write a Book for ASCD

Do you aspire to be a published author? Would you like to share your expertise and ideas with other educators around the world?ASCD Books

You've Come to the Right Place.

ASCD is continually searching for writers with new ideas, fresh voices, and diverse backgrounds.

When educators become authors through ASCD, their knowledge and experience influence a large audience of teachers and administrators. If your book is published, you'll make a contribution to the profession and earn royalty payments as compensation for your work.

These are some of the many reasons why you should publish with ASCD.

How Do I Start the Process?

If you would like ASCD to consider publishing a book you have written or plan to write, send us a proposal and two or three sample chapters. Here's the list of what to include in your proposal.

What Happens Next?

Your proposal and sample chapters will be reviewed by our Book Acquisitions Team, which meets at the end of each month. The review process takes about two months, and we will inform you of the outcome as soon as possible. Please let us know if another publisher is reviewing your proposal during this interval.

If the reviewers recommend publication, we will send you a draft contract for your review.

What Do the Reviewers Look For?

The reviewers weigh many factors, including the appeal of the topic to ASCD's audience, the expertise of the author(s), and how the proposed book would fit into our existing lineup of publications.

Here are the top five qualities we look for in ASCD books.

I Have More Questions …

We look forward to receiving your proposal. If you would like to discuss your topic with us or if you have more questions about assembling your proposal, please contact a member of the Book Acquisitions Unit.
