About the authors

Nancy Frey is a professor of educational leadership at San Diego State University and a teacher leader at Health Sciences High in San Diego, California. She is a credentialed special educator, reading specialist, and administrator in California. Nancy has authored numerous articles on leadership, reading and literacy, and curriculum design as well as books such as Microlearning in the K–12 Classroom, Student Learning Communities, and Your Students, My Students, Our Students.

Sandi Everlove is the founder and chief academic officer at TeachFirst. She is the primary architect of a professional learning model that integrates online videos of research-based instructional practices, collaborative learning communities, leadership development, and onsite consulting. Prior to TeachFirst, Sandi was a high school chemistry teacher in Seattle Public Schools. She received the Washington State Golden Apple Award in 1998 and created an award-winning high school ethics course. A passionate advocate for children, she established and trained a mobile professional development team providing support for rural teachers in Guatemala and cofounded Lake Washington Girls Middle School, the first not-for-profit, secular all-girls middle school in Washington state.
