The work of these Thoughtful Classroom trainers and coaches in schools across the country played a critical role in the development of the Strategic Teacher PLC Guides. The feedback the team brought back from teachers, teacher leaders, and administrators made each successive version—and there were many versions—more powerful and more practical for educators.

Special thanks go to the Green River Regional Educational Cooperative (GRREC) in Kentucky, where earlier versions of these Strategic Teacher PLC Guides were piloted with more than 100 schools. It was the vision of teacher leadership shared by Liz Storey, Jamie Spugnardi, and hundreds of other teacher leaders and administrators from GRREC schools that helped us realize the potential of this new approach to building professional learning communities in schools.

To the wonderful staff at ASCD—Nancy Modrak, Ann Cunningham-Morris, Julie Houtz, Jean Pride, Debbie Brown, Genny Ostertag, Miriam Goldstein, and many others—thank you for your support and enthusiasm for these new products we call Strategic Teacher PLC Guides. But the greatest debt of thanks goes to Scott Willis. Without Scott's guidance and his ability to see the big picture and think through the details, we don't know where we'd be.

Finally, for never letting us—or our schools—forget the central role that thought plays in every act of teaching and learning, we would like to thank Art Costa and Bena Kallick. We are proud to integrate your work in building students' habits of mind into these Strategic Teacher PLC Guides.
