Meir Ben-Hur is vice president, Program Services, and lead math consultant for the International Renewal Institute, Inc. (IRI). Since his first meeting with Reuven Feuerstein convinced him to devote a lifetime of learning and teaching to the Israeli psychologist's systematic approach to mediating children's learning experiences, Meir has developed his knowledge and skills as a teacher of young students and adults. His special interest in Feuerstein's Instrumental Enrichment (FIE) has been in bridging FIE's “learning how to learn” process into mathematics.
Meir has served as a senior international trainer for Feuerstein's institutes in Brazil, Israel, Holland, and England. In addition, Meir has led the development of the International Center for the Enhancement of Learning Potential's (ICELP) trainers at the North American and international institutes, written several articles and books, including Cognitive Pathways to Achievement in Mathematics, led IRI's development of the Math Advantage Achievement Program, coordinated IRI's achievement research model, and directed lead teacher training programs in Cleveland, New York, St. Louis, San Francisco, Fresno, Los Angeles, Chicago, and other smaller districts. In addition to consulting with training programs in schools and industry, Meir consults with North American Authorized Training Centers and ICELP on development of adult trainers for all versions of FIE.
