ALEXANDRIA, VA — ASCD, a mission-driven nonprofit association dedicated to empowering educators to achieve excellence in learning, teaching, and leading, announced today that its Board of Directors has appointed Ranjit Sidhu as ASCD’s Executive Director and CEO effective January 1, 2020. Sidhu replaces Deb Delisle, who left ASCD in January 2019.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ranjit Sidhu to the ASCD community of educators,” said ASCD Board President Melanie Kay-Wyatt. “Ranjit is a passionate and proven leader who successfully unites constituencies and teams under a common mission. His strategic vision has consistently resulted in organizational growth and increased social impact and will be instrumental in enhancing ASCD’s mission of empowering educators to achieve excellence in learning, teaching, and leading.”
Sidhu is the President and CEO of the National Council for Community and Education Partnerships (NCCEP), a position he has held since 2015. Prior to joining NCCEP, Sidhu held senior vice president positions at both the College Board and ACT. In those roles he led numerous teams, including strategy, new product development, and policy and advocacy.
He started a career as a high school social studies teacher in the Washington, D.C. and Prince George’s County, Maryland, public school districts. Sidhu holds master’s degrees from George Washington University and the University of Pittsburgh and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Mary Washington.
“My career has been spent in service to educators with the goal of ensuring that all students are fully prepared to navigate life after high school. I am excited to join the ASCD team, an organization that has long been the leader in providing the most relevant and research-based resources for improving teaching and leading,” Sidhu said. “I am grateful for the Board’s confidence, and I look forward to building upon ASCD’s success as one of the world’s top professional learning and membership organizations.”
