Mary Zamon shares her fond memories of ASCD membership.
I am happy to say that I share 1943 with ASCD—I will turn 65 this year, too! I have taught K–12 and higher education and worked for the Peace Corps. Now, I am in the assessment office of a state university. I first joined ASCD as a classroom teacher, and I felt the articles you published kept me going in tough times and inspired me to want to do more. I enjoyed the year I served on student review board of the International Journal of Education Policy and Leadership(IJEPL) and thank you for the opportunity to learn about writing and publishing. As I complete my doctorate, what I learned from that service will once again inspire me to do more. I was the lucky one who won a trip to Chicago (2006 Annual Conference) for the first introduction of IJEPL! Happy birthday!
