A Closer Look at Principal Evaluation

      Since 2009, 33 states and the District of Columbia have passed legislation requiring district adoption of new systems for conducting principal evaluations; to an increasing extent, these evaluations include student growth as a significant component. As with recent changes to teacher evaluation systems, principal evaluations often consider students' standardized test scores. However, many educators and school leaders have called for evaluations based on multiple measures that more accurately represent the complex work done by principals.
