ASCD's Resolutions Committee will meet this month to review all resolutions proposed by members and affiliates for consideration at ASCD's Annual Conference in Washington, D.C., March 27–30, 1993.
According to its chair, Maurice Howard, the Resolutions Committee is charged with the duty of processing all proposals, working with authors to shape their proposals into a standard format, and endorsing proposals on which the committee believes ASCD members wish to take a position. All resolutions, endorsed or not, are presented to the membership.
Resolutions proposed after December 31, 1992, will be considered as statements of concern, not as resolutions, and will be raised during the Conference at the Annual Business Meeting. First on the agenda for this year's Business Meeting will be resolutions carried over from last year's Annual Conference as old business.
All members are encouraged to help decide whether proposed resolutions become official ASCD positions by attending and participating in both the Open Hearing and the Business Meeting. At the Open Hearing, Saturday, March 27, 1993, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., members may comment on resolutions and make suggestions to the Resolutions Committee prior to final presentation at the Business Meeting. Your final opportunity to influence the outcome of resolutions will be at the Business Meeting, Monday, March 29, 1993, 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.
