ASCD's Board of Directors and Leadership Council met in New Orleans prior to the Annual Conference in March. The Board adopted a new mission and vision and new key drivers for 2008–2011, replacing the strategic plan that had been in place for the previous three years.
The report of the Worldwide Influence Study Group, appointed by the Board last year, was approved. In response to the report of the Leadership Council Study Group, the Board named a Board subcommittee to study leadership access, development, and capacity building, with specific areas of study including the Nominations Committee, Board nominations for diversity, and Leadership Council Study Group recommendations. The subcommittee will submit an initial report to the Board of Directors in July 2008. The Leadership Council adopted a new position for the Association, Educating Students in a Changing World.
Minutes of each meeting are available atwww.ascd.org/governance. Copies of the reports are available from Becky DeRigge, governance director (bderigge@ascd.org).
