Introducing the ASCD 2020 Affiliate Honors Award Winners

ASCD is pleased to announce the following winners of the ASCD 2020 Affiliate Honors Awards:
  • Award for Overall Excellence – Alabama ASCD
  • Award for Excellence in Leadership – New York State ASCD
  • Awards for Excellence in Professional Learning – Florida ASCD, Maine ASCD, and Texas ASCD
The Affiliate Overall Excellence Award recognizes excellence in seven areas—leadership and governance, membership, communications, professional learning, influence, building community, and building sustainability.
Area of Excellence awards recognize achievement in specific areas of work. Florida ASCD, Maine ASCD and Texas ASCD received the Excellence Award for Professional Learning for their exemplary work in offering training and events that support the growth of educators across their respective states. In addition, New York State ASCD received the Excellence Award for Leadership and Governance for its exemplary work in serving as the trusted voice advocating for the Whole Child in their state.

New Online Learning Course

Questioning for Classroom Discussion: Grades 6–12

This new PD Online course guides teachers through a process of creating quality discussions to scaffold toward student-directed learning. Based on the book by Jackie Acree Walsh and Beth Dankert Sattes by the same title, the PD Online course includes demonstration videos, interactions, applications, and reflections so that teachers come away with strategies they can use immediately in the classroom.
