New Student Chapters

ASCD is pleased to announce two new student chapters: Hofstra University ASCD student chapter in New York and Bloomsburg University ASCD student chapter in Pennsylvania. Student chapters are campus-based organizations formed to accelerate education students' professional growth and self-identification as education professionals. By meaningfully engaging with ASCD resources and interacting with members of the ASCD community, student chapter members gain the energizing “ASCD edge” that helps raise their future professional performance levels. ASCD currently has 49 student chapters.

Kudos to North Carolina ASCD

North Carolina ASCD has been selected to receive the Affiliate Overall Excellence Award, which recognizes excellence in five areas: diverse and active membership; communication and publications; programs, products, and services; influence and policy; and leadership and governance.
North Carolina ASCD membership has increased by more than 300 members, and the affiliate has an impressive 82 percent member retention rate. Currently, every superintendent in the state is a member. The affiliate is striving to attract more teachers and emerging leaders. North Carolina ASCD has a remarkable regional approach to membership and program development that extends to eight regions statewide. An effective infrastructure and a capacity to address fast-breaking issues solidify its influence throughout the state. The affiliate also has a strong leadership and governance structure.
North Carolina ASCD accepts the Affiliate Overall Excellence Award this month at ASCD's 2005 Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida. The affiliate will also be honored at the Affiliate Recognition Luncheon and throughout the coming year.
