ASCD Community in Action

A Strong Slate for ASCD

ASCD's Nominations Committee invites all members to nominate themselves or encourage qualified individuals to nominate themselves for ASCD leadership positions. In 2007, the General Membership election will fill positions for President-Elect (one position), the Board of Directors (two positions), and Leadership Council members-at-large (six positions). The Nominations Committee will also seek candidates from the Leadership Council to fill three positions on the Board of Directors, to be elected by Leadership Council members.
The nomination form is available online at www.ascd.org/nominations. For a print version, contact Nominations Committee chair Don Viegut (dviegut@marathon.k12.wi.us; 715-443-2226, ext. 107) or Becky DeRigge (bderigge@ascd.org; 800-933-2723 or 703-575-5601) at ASCD. Completed forms must be returned to the chair by Jan. 31, 2007.
Kick off your ASCD conference experience in Anaheim, California, with a special evening book bash that supports literacy—The Magic of Books: Bringing People Together. Bring a new children's book, and we'll donate it to Anaheim Title I schools. Any financial contributions will be used to buy new children's books for the schools.
Celebrate this community-service project with us and network with your colleagues as you enjoy food, games, and magicians performing sleight of hand. The bash will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16 in the California Promenade and Pavilion rooms at the Hilton Anaheim Hotel. Pearson Education is cosponsoring the event with the Fischler School of Education and Human Services at Nova Southeastern University.

Interested in Publishing on Policy?

Since its spring 2006 debut, the International Journal of Education Policy and Leadership (IJEPL) has published research on policy topics ranging from small class size as an achievement indicator to how the First Amendment applies to school libraries to collaborative decision making.
IJEPL is free to the public and available online through a partnership among Simon Fraser University, George Mason University, and ASCD. If you're interested in publishing education policy research in IJEPL, follow the registration and submission guidelines at www.ijepl.org.
