      • the article "Why We Must Teach Peace" by Colman McCarthy (Sept. 1992),
      • the interview "On Savage Inequalities: A Conversation with Jonathan Kozol" by Marge Scherer (Dec. 1992/Jan. 1993),
      • the how-to feature "Supporting Victims of Child Abuse" by Thelma Bear, Sherry Schenk, and Lisa Buckner (Dec. 1992/Jan. 1993), and
      • the one-theme issue Improving the Odds for Students at Risk (Dec. 1992/Jan. 1993).
      Two ASCD videos received awards in the 1993 National Educational Film and Video Festival. Making Meaning: Integrated Language Arts (Introduction) won a Silver Apple award, and Teaching to Learning Styles won a Bronze Apple. Both of these videos were also winners in the 1993 U.S. International Film and Video Festival, the former receiving a Certificate of Creative Excellence, and the latter, a Silver Screen Award. In addition, both Teaching to Learning Styles and Restructuring America's Schools won Golden Eagle awards from the Council on International Nontheatrical Events (CINE).
      Finally, the cover of the October 1992 issue of Educational Leadership ("Untracking for Equity") won a 1993 Art Director's Club Award for design excellence.
