- the design treatment of the issue Can Public Schools Accommodate Christian Fundamentalists? (Dec. 1993/Jan. 1994).
Three ASCD videotape programs were recognized for excellence this year. Teaching to Learning Styles won a Golden Eagle award from the Council on International Nontheatrical Events (CINE), Integrating the Curriculum won a Bronze Apple award at the National Educational Film and Video Festival, and Schools of Quality won a Distinguished Achievement Award and a Best of Category distinction from the Educational Press Association of America.
Designer Karen Monaco's covers for the book The New Circles of Learning and the 1993 ASCD Annual Report were selected by the Art Directors Club of Metropolitan Washington to be in its 45th Annual Show; they will be on display at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in October.
Finally, ASCD Update won second place for general excellence in the Excel Awards sponsored by the Society of National Association Publications.
