Career History and Highlights: A total of 25 years of educational experience that includes assistant superintendent; director of curriculum; Title 1 coordinator; Reading Recovery teacher; classroom teacher; mentor and adjunct, Ashland University. Other activities include PRAXIS assessor; Pathwise, OhioFIRST, and Enhancing Professional Practice trainer; participant, Baldrige Performance Excellence, Teacher Student Partnership, Quality Tools, and Value Add; presenter, Reading Recovery Conference, Title 1 Spring Conference, Battelle for Kids Conference; treasurer (2001–03), The Ohio State University Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa.

Michael Zellmer

Career History and Highlights: A total of 11 years of district office leadership in curriculum, instruction, teaching, and learning. Taught graduate courses in Assessment for Learning and Organizational Change and Group Leadership. Recognized for distinguished service (Wisconsin State Superintendent's Collaborative Council, 2007). Led action research projects on effects of using electronic scoring of student writing and on effects of CyberEnglish 10 with technology learning environment. Established high school auto program for a four-district consortium. Facilitated a revised teacher evaluation system. Taught at all levels in both regular and special education.
ASCD and Affiliate Participation: ASCD member (10 years); affiliate member (10 years). Currently Wisconsin ASCD immediate past president and Influence Committee cochair. Coauthored Educational Leadership article, “What Are NCLB's Instructional Costs?” (November 2006). Represented Wisconsin ASCD as guest on radio interview, “A Test of Testing” (WUWM Radio, aired in Milwaukee, Wisc., January 2007) and in testimony before Wisconsin Legislative Education Committee (on AB 880—expanding high school graduation requirements in math and science), February 2006. Cofacilitated state-level symposium on Wisconsin ASCD statewide survey on cost of No Child Left Behind testing. Authored numerous articles for Wisconsin ASCD publications. Presented at or facilitated numerous state-level sessions on various Wisconsin ASCD topics.
