Kimberly Kappler Hewitt

Career History and Highlights: Served as director of curriculum, instruction, and assessment (7 years); district instructional specialist (1 year); elementary principal (1 year); middle school teacher (4 years). Taught preservice and practicing educators at Miami University, Wright State University, and University of Dayton. Presented at 12 national and 10 state conferences. Authored Differentiation Is an Expectation: A School Leader's Guide to Building a Culture of Differentiation (2011). Member, Board of Trustees of Mount Notre Dame High School in Cincinnati, Ohio (2002–05). Served on North Central Accreditation External Validation Team (2002). Recipient, Georgia Honor Teacher Award and grant, Atlanta Journal/Constitution, 2001.

John Kiemele

Current Position: Principal, Coal Creek Elementary School, Boulder, Colo.

Career History and Highlights: Leadership experience of 21 years as a public school principal (pre-K–6) and 7 years as an elementary classroom and special education teacher in Washington, Oregon, Arizona, and Colorado. Professional developer since 2010 for the International Habits of Mind Learning Communities, as developed by Arthur Costa. Adjunct professor, Northern Arizona University (curriculum and instruction) and Central Washington University (school/education law). Expertise in assisting teachers and principals to develop "mindful learning," cultural proficiency and school equity, strategic planning, and collaborative leadership. Coal Creek Elementary School has been recognized for numerous years as a Colorado School of Excellence.

Currently, job responsibilities include providing leadership and consultation to 25 school districts in south central Pennsylvania in the areas of curriculum, school improvement, data-analysis, and instructional services. Semifinalist, 2004 Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year. Career History and Highlights: Independent literacy consultant specializing in literacy techniques across core content K–8 (6 years); middle school principal (4 years); elementary school assistant principal and lead curriculum designer/staff developer (9 years); elementary school lead bilingual teacher (4 years). Presenter at various conferences during past few years, including International Reading Association (2011), National Association for Bilingual Educators (2011), Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (2007), Texas Middle School Association (2007). Grant recipient, Raise Your Hand Texas for Harvard Principal's Institute (2009). Currently, job responsibilities include supporting curriculum development and implementation at the middle school level; providing professional learning opportunities at campus and district level; managing personnel/maintenance/operations and budget at the campus level; training campus level curriculum coaches for collegial coaching and targeted instructional improvement; member of alternative certification guidance committee; member of district strategic planning committee.

Derek Tully

Presenter and keynote speaker, International Learning Styles Institute Annual Conference, New York. Member, Bermuda Government Committee on Bringing Up Boys. Recipient, Her Majesty the Queen's Certificate and Badge of Honor (Her Majesty the Queen's New Year's Honors List Bermuda 2000) for services to education and the community. Recipient, Paul Harris Rotary Fellowship (Bermuda) for services to education. Director, Learning Styles Institute of Bermuda with presentations at conferences, service organizations, and senior management seminars.
