Improved technology now allows ASCD to differentiate between the members of the Associations who have paid membership dues and those who have not. Therefore, as of January 1, 1997, only ASCD members who have paid their dues by a specified date will receive a ballot in ASCD elections.
This change in procedure will reduce the size of ASCD's Board of Directors by approximately 14 proportional representatives, in accordance with the Constitutional formula of allocating one proportional representative for every 2,700 ASCD members in an affiliate. Proportional representatives who are affected will be allowed to complete the remainder of their three-year terms.

EL’s experienced team of writers and editors produces Educational Leadership magazine, an award-winning publication that reaches hundreds of thousands of K-12 educators and leaders each year. Our work directly supports the mission of ASCD: To empower educators to achieve excellence in learning, teaching, and leading so that every child is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged.
