      To make classrooms less institutional and more open and collaborative, teachers at Merritt Brown Middle School in Panama City, Florida, moved to flexible seating arrangements last year, complete with couches, armchairs, and other coffee-house-inspired trappings. Some teachers say the change has boosted student engagement.
