ASCD is sad to announce the recent death of Sarah Arlington, a longtime ASCD employee whose work brought her in touch with many members.
Sarah retired in 1988 after working for three decades at ASCD. She began as a secretary and left as manager of ASCD's Annual Conference Department. Upon her retirement, Gordon Cawelti, ASCD's former executive director, noted that Sarah "consistently exhibited diplomacy, graciousness, and efficiency toward our members." Those who worked with Sarah knew her as a warm and supportive person who was devoted to ASCD, its members, and employees.

EL’s experienced team of writers and editors produces Educational Leadership magazine, an award-winning publication that reaches hundreds of thousands of K-12 educators and leaders each year. Our work directly supports the mission of ASCD: To empower educators to achieve excellence in learning, teaching, and leading so that every child is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged.
