      ASCD is saddened to announce the death of Alice Miel, who served as president of ASCD in 1953-54. After teaching in the Michigan public schools, Miel became a professor at Teachers College, Columbia University. In the 1970s, she was executive secretary of the World Council for Curriculum and Instruction. Miel died on January 31st. She was 91.
